In 1958, The El Paso District Board of Missions made plans for a Methodist church in the Eastwood-Scotsdale area. The Reverend Rodney E. Roberts was appointed to establish this church, and spent the summer of 1958 going door to door, talking with people who might be interested in becoming involved with this new church.
The first service was held in September of 1959 at All Saints Episcopal Church, and on October 25, 1959, the new church was given its name. In December of 1960, the Trustees were authorized to purchase a house in which both church and Sunday School were held. The first worship service, at 9915 Montwood, was held on May 6, 1962, in what is now Fellowship Hall. Twenty-three years later, in May of 85, ground was broken for a new sanctuary. On March 9, 1986, St. Luke held it's first service in the beautiful, present day sanctuary. In 1999 the house purchased in 1960 was sold, and a new parsonage was purchased. In September of 1999, our church celebrated forty years of existence!
The St. Luke Family of God continues to meet for Sunday Services at 8:30 and 10:45 am. Sunday School is held at 9:40am., with classes for both adults and children. The millenium will bring us a new praise service.
Church organizations include Youth group (U.M.Y.F.), Christ's Kids, a younger children's group, Chancel Choirs and Handbell Choirs for both children and adults, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, and Third Thursday Retirees.
